Celtic Tapas in Maesteg
06 February 2012
A TAPAS festival will be held in Maesteg on Friday 11th -
Sunday 13th May to celebrate the connection between Wales and
Spain.
The two-day Spanish-style fiesta will be held in May to celebrate
the principality of Asturias and Wales with food, drink, music and
dance at Maesteg Town Hall and on Talbot Street.
Throughout the weekend, there will be dance displays in and around
the town hall, with a Grand Inter-Celtic Ceilidh and Twmpath Dawns
on the Saturday night.
Chefs from Asturias will man stalls along the street, serving
traditional food washed down with Spanish "sidra" cider, poured in
the traditional manner and accompanied by Celtic music from an
outside stage.
On Sunday evening, the town hall will host a gala choral evening
featuring both male voice and mixed choirs, Celtic dance and music
played on Celtic instruments such as the harp and gaitas, a melodic
Asturian bagpipe.
